What is professional teeth whitening?
Teeth whitening (bleaching) is a targeted treatment that lightens teeth by removing color particles deposited by coffee, tea, red wine, smoking, or age-related discoloration. Which whitening methods are available?

- Take-home bleaching (tray technique): Custom-fitted trays plus a lower-concentration gel worn at home. A gentle progression over 2–3 weeks.

When is whitening not advisable?
In cases of cavities, leaking fillings, exposed tooth necks, or heavy tartar, the tooth must be treated first — otherwise bleaching agents can penetrate damaged tissue. With crowns or veneers, the ceramic color remains unchanged; only the natural teeth are lightened.
